Designer, publisher and patron of fine press printing. His first book was the Notizen über Mexico (1898). After founding the Cranach Press at Weimar in 1913, he commissioned type designs from Edward Johnston and a book version of Gordon Craig's staging of Hamlet with designs by Craig. Incoming correspondence, largely in English, with a small number of drafts or carbon copies of outgoing letters.
