Series 3: Works, 1934-1977
Scope and Contents note
Drafts, proofs, and final versions of Norris' magazine articles, newspaper columns, book reviews, lectures, short stories, novels, and poetry. Also included are notes, research materials, and reviews of Norris' works, as indicated. Many of Norris' works reflect his concern for racial relations, particularly in the South. The Civil Rights Movement folders contain clippings and other pertinent materials concerning the movement, which Norris documented throughout the 1960's as Sun-Times correspondent. Newspaper clippings are arranged chronologically and include additional Civil Rights articles as well as Norris' "Critic at Large" columns. Drafts of book reviews are filed under "Reviews".

Arranged alphabetically by title of work, with Civil Rights Movement, Lectures, Newspaper Clippings, Poetry, Research Materials, Reviews, Unidentified, and Untitled grouped by subject. Collaborations between Norris and other authors are filed at the end of series, alphabetically by title. Oversize-Legal items are filed with Series 4: Miscellaneous; larger items are filed in Oversize.
