Scope and Contents note
This company, which was financed by railroad officials such as C. E. Perkins and William Irving, was organized in 1864 by J. N. Denison to buy and sell town lots in Burlington, Iowa and other locales. Series contains outgoing correspondence from C. E. Perkins pertaining to land contracts, deeds, and payments. Also includes incoming correspondence to J. W. Ames, William Irving and others concerning land sales, taxes, and dividends, from purchasers, stockholders, agents and contractors hired to build mills and plant trees. Also includes bank books, financial statements, title abstracts, maps and other sundry papers.
