Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Minutes, minute books, agendas, committee correspondence, member correspondence, and lists of members and dues paid. Final minutes for almost all of the committees up until the 1980s (along with financial statements, external auditor's reports, and summary reports on the Arts Club's restaurant income and expenditures) were compiled and placed into volumes. Loose folders of committee minutes include drafts and/or annotated minutes, along with invitations to join committees and general correspondence. The Acquisitions Committee decided which pieces to purchase or donations to accept. The Exhibition Committee identified potential exhibits and approved the exhibition schedule for each season. The Music Committee used to help plan the Lecture series; see Music Committee minutes and folders for Lecture planning information. The Reception Committee was primarily an honorary committee; different women members of the Club were invited to pour tea for various Exhibition openings, performances, or lectures. The InterArts Committee was formed as a collaborative effort to discuss all programming at the Club, from exhibitions, to music and lectures. The House Committee discussed issues with the building and facilities. Member correspondence includes membership applications, letters of reference for applicants, correspondence about dues, resignations, fees, etc. Member correspondence from the 1930’s appears to have been weeded; the bulk of the correspondence is from members whose last name begins with "S." After 1950, no applications were retained; only the applicants' responses.

Names in parentheses after the folder titles indicate prominent correspondents.
