Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Materials pertaining to the Raven Theatre’s organizational history from 1979 to 2008. Administrative documents in this series include the Raven Theatre's business license, mission statements, and Board of Directors meeting minutes. These documents show the development of the Raven Theatre's administrative processes over a twenty-five year period. Building records include documents related to the Raven Theatre's original location at 6917 N Clark Street with the majority pertaining to the Raven Theatre's relocation to 6157 N Clark Street in 2002. These records reveal the planning and negotiation process involved in the theater's move from 1999-2002 and include construction estimates, photographs, correspondence, and building permits. The building records also include large format documents such as floor plans and renderings of the new location drafted by Morris Architects. Financial records in this series contain grant applications and correspondence between the Raven Theatre and various local and national foundations. Arranged alphabetically by institution, these materials reveal the constant financial process of locating funding for a small theater company in Chicago. Miscellaneous organizational records are located at the end of the series and primarily contain early press clippings about the Raven Theatre and the New Haven Playhouse, where Michael Menendian worked before opening the Raven Theatre in 1983.
