Materials relating to the founding and operation of the Griffin Funeral Home and the professional career of Ernest Griffin as its funeral director. Some materials also pertain to the careers of Dawn and Pearl Griffin as funeral directors and Alyce Griffin as the funeral home’s cosmetologist. Included are materials relating to the production of the films The Story of Cremation and The Inevitable, including screenplays and notes. The subseries also contains publicity materials relating to high profile funerals conducted by the Griffin Funeral Home including press releases, drafts and copies of published articles written by Ernest Griffin regarding these funerals, and newspaper clippings. Other materials include drafts of speeches given by Ernest Griffin at conferences, publicity materials surrounding his honors and awards, newspaper clippings pertaining to the Griffin Funeral Home’s activities, and programs from professional events hosted and attended by members of the Griffin family.
