Civil War related materials collected by Ernest Griffin. A large portion of this series consists of correspondence between Ernest Griffin and other Civil War enthusiasts and fellow members of the Civil War Round Table. The series also contains research materials on Camp Douglas and the 29th Colored Infantry, of which Charles Griffin was a member. Also included are newspaper clippings and monument dedication invitations and programs concerning Heritage Memorial Wall, a monument to Camp Douglas that the Griffin family erected on the funeral home grounds in 1991. This series also includes pamphlets and brochures collected by the Griffins while traveling to battle sites and reenactments, photocopies of Charles Griffin’s military records, and general resource materials about the Civil War such as articles, book chapters, pamphlets, etc. Also included are materials addressing Ernest Griffin’s decision to fly the Confederate flag along with the Union flag and African American flag at Heritage Memorial Wall and Ernest Griffin’s honorary membership into the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
