Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Administrative records covering organization history and structure, financial, development and grants, planning, program descriptions, touring information, staff and repertory lists, and performance schedules. Extensive grant applications document yearly projects, programs, and staffing needs. Many administrative documents were extra grant attachments that have been described by topic. Thus, there is some overlap between the contents of the grant materials and other administrative materials.

Highlights significant projects of the Dance Ensemble, including the New Dances choreography project, an annual event starting in 1983 that focuses on Chicago choreographers and added to the Dance Ensemble repertory; Dance in the Parks, a collaboration with Chicago Park District; and the Big Shoulders project, a dance created by Lar Lubovitch for the Dance Ensemble as a tribute to Chicago architecture. Also includes educational and outreach programs, such as the Special Group Sponsorship program that offered performances to those not regularly served by the arts including seniors, disabled, and disadvantaged youth.
