From the Series:

Contains audiovisual materials, chiefly records, related to Dorothy Hild’s productions for the Edgewater Beach Hotel, with Barnes-Carruthers, and for the Africana Dancers. Additionally, there are commercial recordings that she no doubt consulted and used as well as interviews with her. Finally, the series includes 8mm films from her travels in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and personal journeys in Chicago. Items are 12 inch records/phonograph discs unless indicated. Due to the nature of description for audiovisual materials, see the guide below for how to read item entries. For all item entries "/" indicates that there is/are more than one side.

Item entries read as follows for commercial recordings: artists, side, "song title," / side, "song," (item type), date.

Item entries read as follows for interviews: Hild's name, interviewer, (station or show if known), date. Item type is indicated in parentheses too.

Item entries read as follows for productions: "production or song title"/ "production or song title," conductor, musical accompanist, or associated act (item type), date. Notations such as "Part 1," "1st cut," or "bad," for example are also included.

Item entries read as follows for films: "film title and/or description," film number if known, black and white or color (item type), date.
