Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Included in this series are images of various writers, artists, actors and other performers who were acquaintances of Herbert Stuart Stone, Sr. or his brother Melville E. Stone, Jr. Many of the writers’ works appeared in Stone and Kimball and the later Herbert S. Stone & Co. publications. Although the file includes several photographs of the family physician, Dr. Norman Bridge, and President Chester A. Arthur (a distant cousin of the Stones), there is only one actual photograph in this series of Herbert Stuart Stone which is a group photo of the staff of the 1892 Harvard Crimson. Other family images included come from newspaper articles. See also Oversize Series.
