This series, containing incoming and outgoing correspondence pertaining to Stone's life and career as founder and editor of the Chicago Daily News and general manager for the Associated Press, forms the bulk of the collection. Topics include national and Illinois politics, Associated Press foreign news bureaus in European capitals, the Chicago Daily News, and Stone’s personal relationships with prominent individuals. The majority of the correspondents are notable figures, including eight presidents, Samuel Clemens, Richard Harding Davis, Carter H. Harrison, Harry Houdini, Eugene Field, and Bill Nye.
