This series includes incoming and outgoing correspondence between family members and Stone (including many letters written by Stone to his wife and daughter while he was traveling in Europe for the Associated Press), as well as letters received by family members from other correspondents. Also included are a few personal documents belonging to Martha J. Stone, playscripts and stories by Stone's son Melville E. Stone, Jr., known as "Ned," and several letters pertaining to the estate of Stone's other son Herbert Stuart Stone addressed to Stone's grandson, Melville E. Stone, 2nd also called Ned. The Stone family scrapbook, probably kept by Elizabeth Creighton Stone, contains programs, letters, telegrams, photographs, drawings, etc. that relate to Elizabeth, Melville, and Martha Stone.
