Reference materials, n.d.

Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

A broadside, handbills, a letter, a hand-drawn map, notes, reference materials, and speeches related to Taylor’s religious career and involvement in the temperance movement. These documents generally appear to come from a slightly later time than the sermons: from the mid-1880s to the early 1890s. Thus, some of the materials deal with Taylor’s later work in Prohibition. These include a broadside and handbills advertising Taylor’s lecturing and a letter from the temperance advocate, Samuel D. Hastings (in which Hastings recommends Taylor for the degree of Doctor of Divinity). Some written speeches for events, which do not directly appear to be sermons, are also included.
