Utley, fourth Librarian of the Newberry Library; a card file, 1887-1963, noting names, addresses, positions, hiring and discharge or resignation dates, and salary increases of individual library employees (including watchmen for properties owned by the Newberry); and staff directories and lists, which from 1915 until 1921 recorded names, job classifications, and educational backgrounds of staff together with required reading for internal promotions.
