Paul Banks Files - Budget
Scope and Contents
Correspondence, memoranda, notes, reports, etc., of Newberry Library Conservator, Paul Banks (1964-1981), and Preservation Librarian, Bonnie Jo Cullison (1981-1989). Banks' files document his activities in conservation organizations and interest groups and his role in establishing conservation courses, programs, and policies nationally and at the Newberry Library. Also included are Newberry Library administrative materials, e.g., binding orders, grant proposals, grant administration files (Ayer Art), project files (painting conservation, Newberry Library typeface recasting). Cullison's files contain memoranda, reports, and brochures on Library conservation issues, other conservation programs, and sources of funding.

Conditions Governing Access
The Newberry Library Archives are open for research in the Special Collections Reading Room; 1 box at a time (Priority III).
Unprocessed records are available by appointment only. Advance notice is necessary, particularly for administrative files, so that files may be screened for personnel records that are removed when records are processed.
Files containing personal or confidential information about individuals (including individual files on members of the Board of Trustees, individual donor files and records reporting the donations of an individual, personnel records, payroll records, and individual accepted fellows files) are closed for 30 years.
