2,082 color maps, on sheets 50 x 144 cm or smaller, folded to 25 x 11 cm. Covers France and Corsica in 36 numbered sheets; includes multiple editions of all sheets. Beginning about 1923 Michelin began publishing these sheets to replace its earlier series, printed on smaller sheets numbered 1-48, and published approximately 1910-approximately 1925. The earlier and smaller sheets are arranged separately in Series 1, France, subseries 1, regional maps of France, approximately 1910-approximately 1925, sheets 1-48. For examples of maps showing design transition, see France subseries 1 sheets 1, 2, 19, 22, 23, and 35, and subseries 2 sheets 83, 84, and 85. Most sheets include a series index map. Filed with an index book to towns appearing on France subseries 2 maps, published as France: répertoire des communes (1987); this is filed at the start of the subseries.
