Materials regarding the anniversaries and history of The Fortnightly of Chicago. Anniversary materials start with the 30th Anniversary in 1903 and include addresses, speeches, correspondence, and other ephemera. Contains significant material from the Centennial celebration in 1973 such as planning and financial information, invitations, and typescript drafts for “The Fortnightly of Chicago, The City and its Women: 1873-1973” written by member Muriel Beadle and the Centennial History Committee. Subseries 1: Muriel Beadle also includes her writings and talks, correspondence, and research for the Centennial.

General historical materials of The Fortnightly of Chicago include annual reports for the Society and its various committees, president’s reports, financial reports, employee information including photographs, along with additional information about the activities of The Fortnightly of Chicago and its members. Use of minutes will be at the discretion of The Fortnightly of Chicago Board of Directors or their delegated representatives during the period ending fifty (50) years from the date of the meeting described in the minutes.

The Fortnightly of Chicago records are open for research in the Special Collections Reading Room; 1 box at a time (Priority III).
