The author brings us a tale of her life as a child in a large southwestern home with a trailer on the land for visitors. During the Depression, her family fed the hungry and the trailer housed visiting artists passing through making colorful stories. The children were charged with entertaining them not realizing them fame. Names: Poncho Villa, George Biddle, Madame Schuman Heink (voice teacher), San Carlo Opera Company (Lawrence Melchior and Nelson Eddy), Robert Onderdonk, Thomas Allen, Ida Hadra, William Aiken Walker, Ella Moss Duval, and Georgia O'Keefe. Daughters of the Republic. Also artists: Jose Arpa, Mary Bonner, Gutzon Harry Anthony De Young, Zavier Gonzales, Arlene Rather. The Brass Mug Club, Ralph Radcliffe Whitehead (Byrd Cliffe Colony Founder), Diego Rivera, Carlos Merido, Pablo Picasso, Walter Pach, Alexander Archipenko, John Ward Lockwood, Mary Cassatt, President Roosevelt, Federal Arts Project (1933-43), Howard Cook (wife Barbara Latham), Ben Shahn, Lucienne Bloch, Mabel Dodge & Tony Luhan (Chief of the Hopis), Willa Cather, D. H. Lawrence, Arthur Stieglitz & Georgia O'Keefe, Walter Uffer, John Marin, Marsden Hartley, Brancusi, Marian Anderson (protested by DAR - riot), Charles Umlauf (sculptor), Admiral Byrd & Floyd Bennett of the MacMillan Expedition in 1926 to the North Pole.
