This series contains items related Mark Satter’s career including writings, speeches, legal case work, involvement with committees and the Chicago Bar Association, media appearances, and research on wage practices and housing. Writings include essays, articles, and book reviews Satter wrote for publications such as the Chicago Bar Record, the DePaul Law, the Northwestern Law Review, Focus Magazine, Labor Today, and the Chicago Defender. Topics include advocating for a new Works Progress Administration, wage garnishment, jury reform, and consumer credit. Most writings are typescripts or manuscript drafts, with some published copies. Book reviews include some related correspondence and are arranged alphabetically by title of the book. Satter spoke to many community organizations, civic groups, and delivered statements for public hearings. Speeches include background notes, clippings, programs, and other materials related to the talk and are arranged in chronological order with undated at the end.
