Series 4: Speeches and Papers, 1919-1972

 Series

  • Staff Only

Scope and Contents note

Speeches, addresses, essays, memoranda, and general writings. Barker was a frequent speaker at colleges, business dinners, and other events connected to his many corporate and political involvements. Most writings are in typescript form, but the series contains a few that were reprinted as pamphlets. He also collected many of his speeches in bound volumes and there may be some duplication therein. Barker held strong, and at times extreme positions on politics, education, economics, and social conditions, and these speeches are very much a forum for these views.
