Scope and Contents note
Primarily contains letters about the pieces Fornell submitted to publishing houses. Correspondence from Fornell's literary agent, Blanche Gregory, detail these numerous submissions. Letters from the publishing houses reveal initial enthusiasm for her work, and several editors like Alfred A. Knopf, Jr. and Monroe Engel worked over time with Fornell to try to improve "Montel," but never with success. Also contains personal correspondence with friends Mark Schorer and Datus C. Smith, Jr., and letters to individuals like Richard d'Honau about writing and staging her plays.
