 File — Box: 61, Folder: 2046

Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Articles, essays, lectures, notes, research material, program notes, teaching notes, and other miscellaneous types of works written by Barzel. Articles constitute the bulk of the series, and were written for publication in periodicals, detailing happenings in Chicago that are dance-related; appearances by guest dancers and choreographers; upcoming programs; new and established companies, etc. Works are typewritten and published, with some handwritten annotations. Articles were written for Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago American, Chicago Today, Dance Magazine, Dance News, Skyline, Les Saisons de la Dance, and other journals and papers. Some dates are not written at the top, and are approximated by the archivist. Also includes some film, local theater, and restaurant reviews (the last of which are written under the pseudonym Robert Cooke). Research materials include clippings of articles by herself and others, handwritten notes, typewritten drafts, and occasionally correspondence. Miscellaneous works include some poetry (mostly unsigned but assumed to be Barzel's) and party skits.
