Consists of thirty letters, 1907-1912, to John Thomas Lee from scholars, librarians and booksellers, concerning Lee’s work on a bibliography of Jonathan Carver’s Travels through the interior parts of North America, in the years 1766, 1767, and 1768.

Letters are a response to Lee’s inquiries regarding existing lists of Carver editions, editions held by repositories or individuals, sale prices, collations and contents of particular editions, methods and examples of bibliographic description, and Carver’s reliability. The 15 correspondents are: Lawrence J. Burpee, George Watson Cole, N.-E. Dionne, Arthur G. Doughty, Wilberforce Eames, Phileas Gagnon, A.W. Greely, Lathrop C. Harper, Albert Bushnell Hart, John U. Lloyd, Harry Miller Lydenberg, Victor Hugo Paltsits, Frank H. Severance, Reuben G. Thwaites and George Parker Winship. Also, a letter from Grace Raymond Hebard, author of The Pathbreakers with a clipping, and a wax impression of a seal possibly used in the signing of the Webster-Ashburton Treaty of 1842.
