 File — Box: 1, Folder: 12

Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Primarily correspondence between members of the Lewis, Fussell, Thomas, Downs, and other related families. Letters discuss the comings and goings, births, illnesses, and deaths of the family members. Many family members were farmers and teachers, and letters reflect the daily lives of those vocations. Of particular interest are the letters of Jonathan Thomas to his wife Ann Thomas while he was living and working with the Six Nations in western New York which describe their behavior and customs in detail. In addition, series contains a few small paintings done by artist Charles Lewis Fussell.
