Joseph B. and Jay Lewis, 1882-1893

 File — Box: 17

Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Diaries kept by Joseph B. Lewis, Jay Lewis, and Maude Lewis documenting the day to day life and accounting of the Lewis family farm in Pendleton, Indiana. Jay Lewis' diaries deal occasionally with his teaching, but they primarily contain dates and facts on the comings and goings of friends and relatives, the weather, and the practical upkeep and financial accounting of the farm. Diaries are arranged chronologically as authorship is at times uncertain. There seems to be overlap between Joseph B. and Jay Lewis, and it is possible that Eva Lewis is responsible for some of the entries in diaries attributed to Maude Lewis.
