Photographs: Humphrey reconstructions, 1989
Scope and Contents note
Contains a lecture by Humphrey, a 1935 program and a brochure of the English Doris Humphrey Foundation, a group of reviews not written by Stodelle, many tributes and a number of photographs. However, the files mainly concern reconstructions of Humphrey’s work, “The Call-Breath of Fire”, “Water Study”, and most prominently, Shakers. The Shakers material includes two copies of complete staging directions published by the Dance Notation Bureau [1971], as well as copious notes and directions for Stodelle’s recreations in the 1980s and in 1994.
