From the Series:

Letters, many in German, to Theodore Thomas from a range of persons involved in the world of music and several letters or drafts of letters written by Thomas himself. Also, letters to Rose Fay Thomas, mostly after Thomas's death in 1905, and a few to persons other than the Thomases. Among the correspondents are Amy Beach, Johannes Brahms, Daniel Burnham, John A. Carpenter, George Chadwick, Antonin Dvorak, Edward Elgar, Arthur Foote, Edvard Grieg, Sir George Grove, Joseph Joachim, Lilli Lehmann, Franz Liszt, Edward MacDowell, Jules Massenet, I.J. Paderewski, John Paine, Maud Powell, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Camille Saint-Saens, Ernestine Schumann-Heink, Jan Sibelius, John Philip Sousa, Richard Strauss, Piotr Tschaikowsky, and Richard Wagner. Unless otherwise noted, letters are addressed to Theodore Thomas, with several having English translations.
