Mary Sackett Papers

Abstract

A journal kept by Mary Sackett when she and her family emigrated from New York state to Laona, Winnebago County, Illinois, 1841-1842, three numbers of a manuscript pioneer newspaper with original work done by members of an Illinois reading circle in 1849, a recipe for taffy, some penmanship exercises and two colored drawings. Also, photocopies of genealogical material relating to the Sackett family collected in 1945.

Michael Scot papers

Scope and Content of the Collection

Manuscript writings and poems, presumably by Irish writer Kathleen Goodfellow who wrote the pseudonym Michael Scot. Includes three manuscript poems titled “Verse Epistle,” “Ballad of the Queens of Bygone Time (Adaptation from the French of Francois Villon),” and “On losing her gage of a silver brooch.” Also includes one typescript titled “The Charwoman” with a few manuscript annotations and a photograph of a painting of Goodfellow. All materials are undated.

MoMing Dance and Arts Center records

Abstract

MoMing was a center in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood for dance training and avant-garde performance as well as an art gallery. It was formed in 1974 by Jackie Radis, Jim Self, Susan Kimmelman, Eric Trules, Kasia Mintch, Tem Horowitz, and Sally Banes. Along with local artists, it hosted many guest dancers and artists of renown, including Trisha Brown, Bill T. Jones, Mark Morris, and Meredith Monk. It officially dissolved in 1991.

North Shore Garden Club Records

Chicago-area club founded in 1916 by women living in the North Shore suburbs of Chicago. The Club had a history of philanthropic endeavors, giving out grants and scholarships. Records include newsletters, administrative and financial records, yearbooks, event planning files (flower shows and garden walks), photographs, and a scrapbook of ribbons won at flower shows. The Club dissolved in 2019.
