Venues and orchestras include St. Botolph Club in Boston, Berkshire Festival of Chamber Music, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Peking Institute of Fine Arts, Chicago Allied Arts, Freer Gallery of Art at the Smithsonian Institution, Théatre national de l’Opéra in Paris, Ojai Valley Festival of Chamber Music in California, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Also includes programs for performances by other musicians, such as violinist Mayo Wadler, Baroda State Indian Orchestra, and All Southern California College Symphony Orchestra.

Abstract

Primarily programs, dated 1920-1931 or undated, for concerts at which violinist and composer Henry Eichheim performed or for which he composed or conducted the music. Eichheim was a violinist in the Boston Symphony Orchestra for 22 years, after which he traveled extensively in Asia. His compositions are heavily influenced by Asian music and daily life, and he was a pioneer in the use of Asian instruments in Western music.
