Letter from Walter L. Newberry to Benjamin Hodge, a nurseryman of Buffalo, New York, ordering from Hodge fruit trees and other plants. "I believe I owe you about the amount of the enclosed $5 bill. I wish you to send me by first boat to the care of G. W. Dole, the following ..." Newberry then lists over a dozen varieties of plums, peaches, pears, apricots, nectarines, and cherries, as well as "2 English Elms," strawberry plants and moss roses. "I wish you to send me handsome trees and shall not object to paying an extra price if you do so." Includes annotations in pencil, probably by Benjamin Hodges, of checkmarks and substitutions on the order.
