Scope and Contents note From the Series: This series consists of photographs related to the Indigenous group referred to by Dean Worcester as the “Tirurayes,” which are known as the Tiruray or Teduray people. The photographs in this series were obtained in the vicinity of Cotabato, Province of Cotabato, on the island of Mindanao. The Tiruray language is genderless, and their culture determines gender by social role rather than biology. To reflect this, these descriptions have been altered from Worcester’s captions.
