All family members contributed to the newsletter which was typed up by Margaret Barker and included transcripts of letters, newspaper articles, observations on nature and the weather, and other family activities. The volumes make up a remarkably detailed record of family life as it evolved over the years, of the Barker children as they grow into adulthood, and of Margaret Barker's perspectives.
