Martinengo dalle Palle collection of Italian death notices

Abstract Collection of 119 Italian death notices, primarily for members of the Martinengo family and other families of the Venetian nobility, collected by different members of the Martinengo dalle Palle family of Brescia and Venice throughout the 19th century. While most were printed in Venice, several were printed in Brescia or Padua. More than thirty different printers and presses are represented in the collection.

Matt Rizzo papers

Abstract Typescript essays and a treatise (some in Braille) by Matt Rizzo, Chicago philosopher/writer who was blinded in a robbery at age 22. Collection also includes photo-reproductions of Rizzo with son Charlie and guide dogs, a news clipping about Rizzo's life, audiocassettes of Rizzo dictating parts of his works, a Perkins Brailler, and Rizzo's two Brailling slates with an accompanying stylus for writing Braille.

R. Hoe & Company Records

Abstract R. Hoe & Company was the largest manufacturer of printing presses and press equipment in the U.S. during the 19th century. Collection consists of incoming letters to the Hoe Company from customers in many states and several European and Latin American countries, deriving from 3 or more letter books of 1858, 1873 and 1877-1878. There are also some 1873-1878 internal memos, patent correspondence, and letters from regional agents of the Hoe Company.
