Girl's Dormitory Normal School - Manila - annotated on backside, "The govt. takes good care of the girls who come up from the little [nipa] shacks in the provinces. One wouldn't think they would be entirely satisfied to go back home and live in a grass house." (#577), undated

Scope and Content of the Collection

From the Collection:

A collection of 155 photographic postcards and two photographs, roughly the same size as the postcards, printed on lighter photographic fiber paper (#10A and 11A). Photographs were possibly produced by photographer Samuel M. Shera. Most items include titles and numbers handwritten in white photographic solution on the front, and many include handwritten annotations on the back. Postcards mostly depict figures, events, architecture, and landscapes in the Philippines.

Several postcards have an “S” written in a box, usually near the bottom-right corner of the picture side of the postcard. This includes postcards # 100, 138, 140, 141, 142, 146, 149, and 153. This “S” is possibly Shera’s signature or an indication of Shera’s photograph studio.
