Scope and Contents From the Series: Over the years the Newberry Library has redefined the scope of its collections to concentrate on the humanities. In 1896, 7,814 scientific titles were turned over to the John Crerar Library as a result of the cooperative collecting plan adopted by the Newberry, the Crerar, and the Chicago Public Library.
